BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO ADDRESS BUDGETS
Members of the Burton City Council will meet this (Tuesday) evening to possibly set the budgets for the new fiscal year.
The council received no comment from the public at a hearing last week, on either the general or the water and sewer budget. Today’s meeting will open with another hearing, before the council issues final approval of the budgets.
The city’s proposed budget estimates $285,575 in revenue and expenditures, with the water and sewer budget balancing at $200,563.
The council will also potentially cancel the general election on May 4th, as all three seats up for re-election are unopposed. Incumbents David Zajicek, Nathan Kalkhake, and Jerry Martin were the only candidates to file for election by the February 15th deadline.
The council will also consider:
- Voiding an ordinance variance granted to Charlene Patterson last month, allowing her to place a new manufactured home at 12305 East Hickory Street.
- Granting a variance to the mobile home ordinance to allow Patterson to place a new home at 12208 East Branch Street, with a letter from the property owner granting permission and guaranteeing all trash and debris would be removed before September 19th.
- Assigning the city's appointed proxy or the proxy committee to vote for nominees for Bluebonnet's Board of Directors.
- Post-closure maintenance on the city's solid waste site owned by Doug Collins.
The council will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m., at Burton City Hall.
