CALDWELL FIREFIGHTER HIT BY 18 WHEELER
“Amazing, spectacular” was the way a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper described the survival of a 19-year old Caldwell firefighter when he was struck by an 18 wheel tractor trailer while fighting a house fire, in the early evening hours Monday.
Texas Department of Public Safety trooper John Anderson who investigated the accident said in his report that Caldwell firefighter Tanner Strange is in for a ‘long hospital stay.’
Caldwell fire chief David Steviehouse says Strange was running from one fire truck to another while he was responding to the fire when he was ‘grazed by an 18 wheeler’. Steviehouse said the incident happened at about six pm Monday while the firefighter was battling a house fire..
The firefighter was then taken to the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan where he continues to be treated. .
