LOCAL CHURCH TO HOST POVERTY WORKSHOP

  

A Brenham church is hosting a workshop on understanding poverty.

The eight-hour workshop, “Bridges Out of Poverty” will be held Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

The program is sponsored by the Episcopal Health Foundation,

Church officials say the workshop is a comprehensive approach for understanding the dynamics that cause and maintain poverty from the individual to the systemic levels.

It includes tools and strategies to prevent, reduce and alleviate poverty, providing a broad overview of concepts.

Those who work directly with individuals and families in the community are urged to gain a deeper understanding of poverty culture and learn prevention strategies.

The free workshop includes lunch.
