AMENDMENT ELECTION EARLY VOTING BEGINS MONDAY

State Senator Lois Kolkhorst says some important decisions will be in the publics hands November 5th in the State Constitutional Amendment Election.

There are 10 amendments on the ballot, with early voting getting underway today (October 21) and runs through Friday, November 1st.

In Washington County, voting will take place in the Courthouse Annex.

Among the 10 amendments:

Proposition 1: Allowing municipal court judges to hold office in more than one municipality.

Proposition 3: Allowing temporary property tax exemptions after a disaster.

Proposition 4: Prohibiting a state individual income tax.

Proposition 5: Dedicating sporting goods sales tax revenue to Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Texas Historical Commission to fund our state park system.

Proposition 7: Allowing increased distributions to Available School Fund.

Proposition 8: Creating the Flood Infrastructure Fund.

Early voting is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.  There will be extended hours next Monday and Tuesday is from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  There is no weekend voting.

Voters wishing to get a ballot by mail must have their application in to the County Clerk’s office by Friday, October 25.
