FIVE ARRESTED AFTER LOCAL TRAFFIC STOP

A Sunday morning traffic stop has led to the arrest of four people on marijuana charges.

Police pulled over a vehicle in the 2400 block of U.S. Highway 290 East for No Front License Plate.

A van was also travelling with the vehicle to Austin.  Police say they could smell marijuana coming from the van.

Five people, all from the Houston area, were arrested on possession charges.

19-year old Issac Adrian Recio and 23-year old Vanessa Elizabeth Mejia, both of Houston, were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.  22-year old Radney Lopez, 21-year old Rosemarie Medina and 18-year old Anthony Silva, all of Houston, were charged with Possession of Marijuana.

  1. What about the young man kill just jogging down the road he wasn’t drinking or smoking weed

    Real common sense

  2. That use of if it where white kids sounds a bit racist. Just to let you know I’m white and Mexican and I want to jail on just having a joint on my first time. Yes the law should be changed but until it does we have to be mindful of where we are at bottom line

  3. Their upbringing!?! LOL! Do you know how many people smoke weed today? Can’t believe it’s still illegal in my state, same state the people got arrested. Yet alcohol destroys body’s, families, and finances and out of all the drugs is by and far the most damaging. The don’t break the law comments if you don’t want to go to jail are both absurd and delusional when it comes to arresting weed possession offenses.

    1. Really? You think driving under the influence of weed should be legal? 2 people just died in a car accident in Carmine. I’m not saying that accident was related to weed but it will certainly increase the odds of an accident while driving under the influence. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is unacceptable. So many lives are lost to those factors but we’re out protesting the handful that were killed by cops. No innocent person should ever die at the hands of a cop or anyone else but the chances of that happening are pretty small compared to all of the other dangers people should be worried about.

      1. Everyone is talking about being under the influence but It never mentioned anyone being under the influence. When you get pulled over in Houston with under a certain amount of weed you receive a citation unlike Brenham where they’re looking for the smallest thing to take you to jail over. Y’all are all stuck in your perfect white lives lying to yourselves. LOL. Reverse racism ISNT REAL. You can’t be white and experience racism, clearly people still need to be protesting because half of y’all haven’t gotten the point yet. Also if the wreck In carmine didn’t relate to weed/ driving under the influence why would you even use it as an example.

  4. Its legal every were else I dont. Smoke it. But. This is what’s wrong with everything today. So they road from one state were it was legal but o. No were on kansas. Not legal. Only to stop becuse of police.

  5. So what they’re not allowed to smoke marijuana? and what do they’re up bringing got to do with marijuana, quit being so judgmental?

  6. It was just weed then they have nothing to worry bout go to court and pay whatever .

  7. They were just arrested for possession, not for intent to distribute, do that implies that it was a very small quantity. Why would the police even bother with this during times of pandemic? Now each of these 5 people will have to come in contact with dozens of other people as they go through the arrest, booking, jail, bail and release process. Stupid!!

      1. No but we should use common sense. Had this been white kids having a pasture party under age drinking they would have been given citations and released to their parents. Had to appear at a later date charges reduced to community service after completion never appears on their record. Both are misdemeanors offenses both could be handled without permanent damage on their records but the minorities goes to jail and ends up with a record while the white kids are given yet another chance. But we suppose to continue to ignore the double standards. Stop looking out of your glass house and throwing rocks

        1. The people arrested NONE were Minors. Your racist comment about WHITE kids pasture parties that’s uncalled for. The white kids & other races do PASTURE PARTIES too… The parties at least they are not on the highways driving influenced by Drugs….they’re in a pasture that likely belongs to one of the kids folks or family & having a good time. The parents /owners of the land usually lock the pasture gate, take up all the car/truck keys so no one leaves. Smart parents !! Not a thing wrong with this kind of gathering. This kind of gatherings been going on many years & no illegal drugs. That group wasn’t too smart driving without a front license plate….that’s how they & the van were caught. Now they pay the fine, jailed etc. And no to everyone wanting it legal the state of Texas doing the right thing by not legalizing the drug. If you want it move to that State. EVERYONES life on this earth matters….white, black,Asian & all people. So quit labeling everyone by their color. Society will never get along & respect each other if this kind of language &,” labeling” continues. Think before you put these comments in print. It stirs anger & doesn’t keep peace. You need to look out for your neighbors & maybe the World could finally begin to get along. I’m tired of the hate.

    1. They shouldn’t be in possession and they wouldn’t have gotten arrested! If you commit a crime then you do the time

      1. Bit, if they were in Houston, they would only have received a $50 ticket and gone home. The police are a money making, scam organization. Especially, the small town texas cops. Just so they can put them in a pen and, use them for free labor, in exchange for food. A basic human right that law enforcement takes from you, without due process or reservation.

      1. Makes you wonder about there upbringing.
There life is just beginning and now they have these charges over there heads.
I’m sure it’s not the first time their smoking while driving.
        They just got caught.

    2. They broke the law and need to be charged for it no matter what is going on in the world!
