DODGERS DOWN ASTROS AS BENCHES CLEAR; RANGERS FALL TO D’BACKS

The Dodgers downed the Astros, 5-2, Tuesday night—the first meeting between the two since the 2017 World Series.

The game was marred when benches cleared in the sixth inning, after Dodger reliever Joe Kelly threw behind Alex Bregman, then mocked a yawn following the pitch.  Moments later, after striking out Carlos Correa to end the inning, Correa stared at Kelly who then responded, “nice swing!”  Benches cleared but no punches were thrown and no one was ejected.

As for the game itself, Houston took a 2-0 lead on Correa’s first homer of the season and he then drove in a run with single.

The Dodgers responded with five runs in the fifth off losing pitcher Framber Valdez (0-1) and reliever Enoli Paredes who failed to retire a batter and gave up two runs.

The two will meet again, Wednesday night at 6:10.  Astro Launch is set for 5:35 on KWHI AM 1280 and FM 101.7.

The Rangers fell behind early and never caught up, falling to Arizona, 4-1.

The Diamondbacks scored three unearned runs in the first inning off Rangers’ starter Kyle Gibson (0-1).  The Rangers had a chance to get out of the inning unscathed, but a throwing error by third baseman Ian Kainer-Falefa scored two runs and extended the inning.

The lone Ranger run came on a seventh-inning solo home run by Roughned Odor (1).

The Rangers will host the Diamondback in the finale of the two game set this afternoon at 3:05.  The Rangers’ Lance Lynn will face Madison Baumgartner.
