BURTON REPORTS SLIGHT INCREASE IN 2020-21 ENROLLMENT

The Burton ISD saw a slight increase of students for the start of the 2020-21 school year.

With the district offering in-person and remote learning options for the start of the school year, Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy reports an opening enrollment of 485 student up 1.2 percent from the 480 students last year.

The Burton ISD opened classes Thursday, Aug. 20.

Kennedy reports the pre-kindergarten and sixth grade enrollment is 280 students in-person and 54 are learning remotely.

In grades seven through 12 there are 205 in-person students with 26 remote learners.

Burton students may also change their instructional preference at the end of the district’s first six-week grading period.
