UT STUDENTS MUST TEST FOR COVID-19 BEFORE SATURDAY GAME
University of Texas students wishing to attend the football season opener against UT-El Paso tomorrow must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test to get a game ticket.
The student Big Ticket Holders who register a negative COVID-19 test will be eligible to participate in the ticket claim process on Saturday morning ahead of the game Saturday night.
With reduced stadium capacity due to the pandemic about 3,000 seats are available for student ticket holders.
But the same precautions will not be required of thousands of other fans in the stands this Saturday. There is no testing requirement for fans who aren't UT-Austin students, nor is there a requirement for visitors from El Paso.
The mandatory pregame tests will be provided by the university for free. Students will have from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to get tested on campus Friday, according to the university athletics website.
The Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium where the game will be held holds a little over 100,000 people, but capacity for the game will be limited to about 18,000.
