A fixture of Aggieland athletics died unexpectedly, Tuesday.

Longtime 12th Man Magazine editor Homer Jacobs died Tuesday morning. The cause of death is unknown and an autopsy has been ordered.

The 1987 Texas A&M journalism graduate, was a fixture at A&M for the past 22 years after returning to Bryan-College Station from Galveston in 1992.

Jacobs was a native of El Paso and served as the sports editor of the Sherman Democrat and the Galveston Daily News, prior to returning to A&M.  While at A&M, Jacobs was the editor of The Battalion.  

Jacobs was a frequent guest on area radio shows and on pregame shows on the Aggie Radio Network.

Funeral arrangements for Jacobs are pending.

Jacobs was 49.
