DISTINGUISHED BRENHAM ISD GRADUATE RETIRING AFTER 20 YEARS AS LAMAR CISD SUPERINTENDENT

Dr. Thomas Randle

A distinguished Brenham ISD graduate and longtime superintendent at a Houston area school district is retiring.

Dr. Thomas Randle has announced his intent to retire at the end of the school year in June.  Dr. Randle, a 1971 graduate of Brenham High School and a member of Brenham ISD’s 2009 class of distinguished alumni, has served as superintendent of Lamar CISD since 2001.  Prior to that, he served as superintendent in La Marque ISD for six years.

Dr. Randle was twice named the Region IV Superintendent of the year, once in 2001 and again in 2017, and was also a finalist for Texas Superintendent of the Year.  In 2017, the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators named a statewide award in his honor.

During Dr. Randle’s time as superintendent, Lamar CISD was recognized twice by Texas School Business magazine, earned the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award for Best Large District, had four campuses named National Blue Ribbon Schools, and was selected as an inaugural cohort member of The Holdsworth Center’s District Leadership Program.

Lamar CISD hosted a retirement celebration for Dr. Randle on Monday.  The ceremony can be watched on the Lamar CISD YouTube channel.
