CUB BASEBALL DROPS OPENER TO PORTER, 8-5
The Brenham Cubs spotted Porter a 7-0 lead they never could overcome, and fell in the opener of the Bi-District playoff opener, 8-5.
Defensive woes, timely hitting and a rough start for Ben Bosse led to the fast start for the Spartans (20-12).
Of Porter's eight runs, only four were earned due to three Cubs' errors.
For Bosse, it was his shortest outing of the season, but leaves him available for Saturday. After his departure, Blane Bolcerek kept the Spartans at bay, giving up just one unearned run over four innings, striking out four and walking one.

Trailing 7-0, the Cubs (25-6) rallied for three runs in the third inning, as Henry Cone's rbi-double scored Ethan Jezierski; a sac fly by Parker Mason sent home Lane Sparks; and a single by Jake Kolkhorst chased home Cone.

Brenham cut the lead to 7-4 as Cone ripped a single, scoring Colin Schaper. After the Spartans picked up another run in the bottom of the fourth, Brenham's Jacob Mabie ripped a solo homer to cut the lead to 8-5, but that was as close as the Cubs would get.
