THREE ARRESTED IN ILLEGAL GAMBLING RAID

  

Three people were arrested in connection with a dual illegal gambling raid by both Bastrop and Fayette County authorities.  Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that last Thursday, investigators from both the Bastrop and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office simultaneously executed search warrants at locations in Smithville and LaGrange.  The search warrants stimmed from a 3 month long illegal gambling investigation.  Arrested in the raid were: Michael Joseph Maugere Jr., 54 of Smithville, Chasity Robinson, 36 of Smithville, and Michael Edward Burgess, 35 of La Grange.  Investigators seized multiple computer gaming devices, documents, and currency at both locations.  The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that gambling is illegal for both the participants and those who promote it.  (Mugshots of the three arrested have been requested from the Fayette County Jail)
