LARGE EARLY VOTING TURNOUT DURING EXTENDED HOURS TUESDAY
Extended voting hours on Tuesday drew the highest single-day voting totals thus far in the constitutional amendment election and Burton ISD bond election.
Washington County Election Administrator Carol Jackson said 182 voters came out on Tuesday to vote in the constitutional amendment election, including 29 voters during the extended hours of 5-8 p.m. Through early voting so far, 746 people have participated in the election.
The Washington County Courthouse Annex will return to regular early voting hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from today (Wednesday) through Friday.
For the Burton bond election, 72 voters cast ballots on Tuesday, bringing the total of early voters to 336.
The Burton High School auditorium will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Friday, with one final day of extended hours tomorrow (Thursday) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
