BLINN COLLEGE MUSIC STUDENTS TO PERFORM AT RECITAL THURSDAY

FIRST DEDICATED SOLO STUDIO RECITAL AT BLINN SINCE FALL 2019

Thirteen Blinn College music students will perform at a recital Thursday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in Finke Recital Hall on the Brenham Campus.

All are voice students of Music Department professor Dr. Daniel Johnson. Mary Ann Hatfield, pianist, will be accompanist.

Performers are Ryan Gafford, baritone; Seth Goins, baritone; Jaycob Steels, tenor; Cody Prause, tenor; Mikayla Wallis, soprano; Rasheedah Stewart, contralto; Dermaine Gibson, baritone; Brianna Scott, soprano; Joseph Koehler-Houltham, bass; Ruth Jarrett, mezzo-soprano; Charis Wirtley, mezzo-soprano; Sarai Mendoza, soprano; and Esther Jarrett, mezzo-soprano.

The event is free and open to the public.

“We are excited to share our hard work this semester with all of our friends, family, and fans, both live in the room and on the livestream,” Johnson said.

Johnson’s students will perform in four parts: “Part One: Vignettes,” “Part Two: Spirituals” (featuring songs by Hall Johnson), “Part Three: Conversations,” and “Part Four: Relationships.” Johnson, a lyric baritone, will perform “Last Letter Home” in the recital’s “Part Five: Tribute.”

“As the recital will take place on Veterans Day, the song I will perform at the end constitutes our musical tribute and thanks to military members and their families who have served and sacrificed for our nation’s freedoms,” Johnson said.

The recital will be streamed at youtube.com/channel/UCKxQ9VXgj9OdMm4Fvd20H_A.
