BLINN HONORS TEDDY BOEHM’S EIGHT YEARS ON BOARD OF TRUSTEES

  

The Blinn Board of Trustees honored Teddy Boehm for her eight years of service on the board at its meeting today (Tuesday).

Boehm served on the board beginning in October 2013, filling the unexpired term of her husband, Dr. Henry Boehm.  She resigned this October, and Allison Bentke was appointed by trustees at their meeting in October to serve the remainder of Boehm’s term through May 2023.

Board Chair Jim Kolkhorst said Boehm’s leadership “has made a lasting impact on Blinn College and the communities it serves.”  He said it has been “a privilege to serve alongside her and to witness firsthand her deep affection for Blinn, its employees, and its students.”

Boehm served one term as board secretary and oversaw several key advancements during her tenure on the board, including Blinn’s decision to partner with The Texas A&M University System as a member of the RELLIS Academic Alliance.  She was also a part of the construction and upgrading of several Blinn facilities and helped expand Blinn’s academic and extracurricular programs.

Also at today’s meeting, Vice Chancellor for Student Services Dr. Becky McBride presented a report on the College’s fall 2021 enrollment, including its 16-week, 12-week, 8-week and 4-week sessions.  Districtwide, Blinn enrolled 17,077 students, a 4.9 percent decrease from fall 2020’s enrollment of 17,955 students.  That total includes 6,152 students at the Bryan Campus, 4,496 online students, 2,756 students at the RELLIS Campus, 1,814 students at the Brenham Campus, 1,594 students enrolled in high school dual credit, 66 students at the Schulenburg Campus and 39 students at the Sealy Campus.

Districtwide, Blinn students enrolled in 3,061,680 contact hours.

In other action, the board:

• Accepted the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for Fiscal Year 2021.
• Authorized the College to negotiate and execute contracts for the purchase of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the RELLIS Campus administration building.
• Authorized the College to negotiate and execute a contract for the demolition of existing structures adjacent to the site where the Bryan Campus administration building will be constructed at Villa Maria Road.
