DEADLINE TUESDAY TO REGISTER FOR LIFETIME LEARNING LUNCHEON WITH HOUSTON RESTAURATEUR, HUMANITARIAN
Tomorrow (Tuesday) is the last day to register for an upcoming luncheon hosted by Lifetime Learning Brenham, featuring an award-winning chef, entrepreneur and Houston humanitarian.
Chris Williams of Lucille’s will speak Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Janis Sneed Banquet Room at the Blinn College Student Center. The program is titled “Serving the Community: More than Food”.
Williams founded his non-profit Lucille’s 1913 after offering meals to the under-resourced in Houston during the pandemic. Since starting in 2020, it has served 400,000 meals. The Kinder Foundation awarded the non-profit a $1.3 million grant in support of Williams’ work.
Williams has also been honored on the Bon Appetit’s Heads of the Table Awards List, recognizing restaurateurs who made a difference during the pandemic and who continue to focus on their communities, sustainability and creating a better restaurant industry. He has also received the Houston Area Urban League’s Quentin Mease Community Service Award.
Williams’ culinary achievements include being named as a finalist for the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurateur.
Tickets to the luncheon are $25, and can be purchased at www.lifetimelearningbrenham.org.
