DEADLINE MONDAY TO REGISTER FOR MAY 24 PRIMARY RUNOFF
Today (Monday) is the last day to register to vote for the primary runoff election on May 24th.
Voters must submit their voter registration applications or have them postmarked by 5 p.m. today. Applications should be turned in at the elections office in the Washington County Courthouse.
A total of 50 races in the Democratic and Republican parties will be part of the runoff election across the state.
That includes several area races for State Representative on the Republican ballot, including District 12 incumbent Kyle Kacal and challenger Ben Bius, District 17 candidates Stan Gerdes and Paul Pape, and District 85 incumbent Phil Stephenson and challenger Stan Kitzman.
The winners of the runoff will win their party’s nomination for the general election in November or, in the case of Kacal or Bius, win the seat outright due to not having an opponent.
Early voting for the May 24th runoff will take place May 16-20.
Voters who are unsure if they are registered can go to www.co.washington.tx.us or www.votetexas.gov.
