BASKETBALL COACH ARRESTED FOR INTOXICATION MANSLAUGHTER
A traffic crash in Fayette County has led to one person’s death and another person’s arrest on Saturday night.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, William Kubena, who is the Head Basketball Coach and a mathematics teacher at Dime Box High School, was driving his 2006 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck near the intersection of FM 1291 and FM 2145 near the Waldeck Lutheran Church.
Around 7:30pm, DPS reports say that Kubena failed to yield the right of way at an intersection and collided with a 2008 Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven 56-year-old Eugene Barnes of La Grange that was heading west on FM 2145.
Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kubena was arrested for intoxication manslaughter and taken to the Fayette County Jail in La Grange.
The case is under further investigation.
