COLLEGE STATION BEATS CUBS 6-2 TO FORCE A THIRD GAME
The College Station Cougars spoiled the chance for the Brenham Cubs to celebrate a sweep in front the home crowd at Fireman's Park for the second straight week.
Brenham got off to a good start in the bottom of the first inning when Lane Sparks hit a double and then stole third base. Ethan Jezierski walked, and then got into a rundown. Sparks was able to score before Jezierski was tagged out to put the Cubs up 1-0.
In the second inning, Cade Warmke led off a single, and then took second on an error. Gunner Gee singled to move Warmke to third. Hayden Hupe then hit into a double play, which allowed Warmke to score to make it 2-0 Cubs.
The Cougars responded with three runs in the third inning. Blake Jones reached on a throwing error by Mason Lampe. Two batters later, Rylan Deming singled. Cubs starting pitcher Blane Bolcerek then threw the ball away, which allowed Jones to score. Blake Binderup followed with a two run homer, and College Station went out front 3-2.
The Cougars then scored twice in the fifth inning on a two run single by Dalton Carnes, and once in the sixth on an RBI single by Jones to make it 6-2.
That was all College Station starting pitcher Ryland Urbanczak, a Rice commit, needed. He went the distance to get the win and retired the last 15 Cub batters he faced.
The series is now tied 1-1. Game three is scheduled for tonight (Saturday) at 7pm in Mumford (6:30pm on KWHI 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.)
(Sat 9:10am Update: The game has been moved up to 4pm, with a 3:30pm pregame.)
The winner moves on to the Region Semifinals against Friendswood. Friendswood completed a two game sweep over Crosby last (Friday) night. The loser will see their season come to an end.

Does anyone have a count of the attendance at this game? I could see from the outside both sides of the stands filled the top.
I don’t think there was a legal parking spot available from the Blue Bell Loop to well uphill in the Library lot.
