YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH COMMUNITY CLASS IN BRENHAM ON MONDAY

Mental Health First Aid is hosting a Youth Mental Health Community Class in Brenham.

The class is being held at the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library on Monday from 10am-5:30pm.

Currently, one in five teens or young people are dealing with a mental health condition, over 64% of teens that are dealing with depression do not receive any treatment, and 5% of teens admit to having a drug or alcohol problem.

The class teaches how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance abuse disorders in youth ages 6-18.

The course will give adults who work with youth the skills that they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents to help them get the right care.

The class is recommended for teachers, coaches, parents, camp counselors, school staff, youth group leaders, and anyone who works with young people.

Seating to the Youth Mental Health Community Class is limited and registration is required.  To register, contact Angie Bates at batesmhfa@gmail.com, or call 979-279-2798.
