BASTROP MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE CHARGES IN FAYETTE COUNTY

A Bastrop man was arrested on multiple charges after leading the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on a chase yesterday (Thursday) morning.
Shortly after 8:30am, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Krenek was dispatched to a report of a theft of property from Hruska’s Gas Station in Ellinger.
After the dispatch put out a description, the vehicle and the suspect were spotted by a Deputy in an unmarked vehicle near La Grange.
Authorities say the vehicle was driving recklessly and at such a high rate of speed, that the unmarked police vehicle was unable to keep up with it.
Information was relayed to the Smithville Police Department, where they were able to get ahead of the vehicle in question and initiate a traffic stop.
When Fayette County Deputies arrived at the scene, they observed that the vehicle and the license plate matched the description of the vehicle that fled the scene in Ellinger.
As they investigated at the scene, Deputies also found a sizeable amount of clothing, whose tags were still attached, inside the vehicle.
They also found driver to be in possession of two fake Texas Driver’s Licenses.
The suspect, 30-year-old Zachary Greene, was taken into custody, and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center. He was charged with Theft with previous convictions, Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information, and Reckless Driving.
