TWO BRENHAM FIREFIGHTERS RECEIVE PROMOTIONS
The Brenham Fire Department has announced promotions for two of their firefighters.
With the recent retirement of Greg “Tank” Nienstedt, the Brenham Fire Department has promoted Andrew Jozwiak to be the new Captain of the A-Shift.
Meanwhile, Ryan Swor has been promoted to Jozwiak’s former position as the new Lieutenant for the B-Shift.
Captain Jozwiak is an 18-year veteran of the Brenham Fire Department. He started as a volunteer in February 2004.
Jozwiak attended the Texas A&M Fire Academy, and was later promoted to career Apparatus Operator in 2007. He is also a certified Emergency Vehicle Technician.
Jozwiak was chosen as the 2014 BFD Firefighter of the Year and the 2015 Central Texas Firefighter of the Year.
Lieutenant Swor has been with the Brenham Fire Department since beginning as a volunteer in 2014.
He graduated from the Texas A&M Fire Academy in 2015, and was promoted to career apparatus operator in January 2016.
Swor is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician and a member of Texas Task Force 1.
In 2020, he received recognition from Governor Greg Abbott and a Life Saving Award of Valor from Task Force 1 for saving three lives during Hurricane Hanna.
In addition to that, Swor serves as a training instructor, and has helped with Fire Prevention programs at local schools.
Lieutenant Swor was chosen as the BFD Firefighter of the Year in 2021.
