BURLESON CO. TO CONTINUE RECYCLING PROGRAM
Burleson County’s recycling initiative will continue after a well-received pilot program.
At a meeting last week, county commissioners unanimously voted to keep the recycling services at the county’s four precinct collection stations.
The recycling program began in November through a pilot grant through the Brazos Valley Council of Governments and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
County residents who did not already have dump permits were given temporary recycling passes to participate and help reduce waste. Twelve recycling dumpsters were provided to the county.
According to data presented at last week’s meeting, approximately 9.75 tons of waste have been collected for recycling and diverted from the landfill. That includes 7.76 tons of cardboard, 1.10 tons of plastic, .68 tons of metal and .21 tons of paper.
The county’s four precinct collection stations are located at 7078 County Road 144 in Deanville, 11291 FM 166 in Tunis, 6190 Highway 36 North in Chriesman and 12776 County Road 437 in Lyons.
