BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING AT DIXIE NATIONAL
The Blinn College livestock judging teams had strong outings at the Dixie National Beef Judging Contest.
The freshman livestock judging team dominated the competition winning the overall title by 70 points and placing five individuals in the top 10 in that division.
Blinn compiled with 4,627 total points. The next closest school was Eastern Oklahoma State College with 4,557 points.
Top students for the Blinn freshman were Kinsey Gardner, who finished second in the freshman division with 931 points, while Thalia Ochoa was third with 930 points, Steele Kenney was fourth with 929 points, Devyn Griff was fifth with 925 points, and Weston Hinze was seventh with 923 points.
Meanwhile, the sophomore livestock judging team finished in second place, missing the top spot by only six points.
Lake Land College won first place with 4,681 points, while Blinn finished with 4,675 points.
Weston McElroy led Blinn with 947 individual points, which was good for second place overall.
Other top finishers for the Blinn sophomores were Gunner Coburn, who finished fourth overall with 945 points, and Kendhal Nix, who finished fifth with 945 points.
Blinn is ranked number four this week among junior colleges in livestockjudging.com’s power rankings.
