TxDOT MOVING TO NEXT PHASE OF HIGHWAY 6 PROJECT IN NAVASOTA
The Texas Department of Transportation has provided an update on their Highway 6 construction project in Navasota.
They are closing the northbound State Highway 6 entrance at FM 3090 as part of the next phase of the project.
This next phase will shift traffic from left lane closed to right lane closed.
According to TxDOT Representative Bob Colwell, the detour has also been revised to make northbound traffic on Business 6 travel southbound on the frontage road, past FM 3090 to the Highway 90 turnaround to then merge onto northbound Highway 6.
Eastbound and westbound traffic on FM 3090 wishing to travel northbound on Highway 6 will also have to take the southbound frontage road to the Highway 90 turn around to travel northbound on Highway 6.
Weather permitting construction is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.
I am glad they are doing something about that death trap entrance to hwy 6, finally! I wrote TxDot twice in the last three yrs. I often commuted through Navasota to College Station but only went that way a couple of times. Once a few yrs ago by accident and saw an eighteen wheeler decimate a car trying to get onto hwy 6….. an SUV… I heard the driver had serious injuries. There was no merging … You just had to jump on the hwy.
I always went through town and entered in the ramp by McDonald’s. It was further but much, much safer.
