CUBETTES RALLY TO BEAT HUNTSVILLE 4-3 IN EIGHT INNINGS
They had to go to extra innings, but the Brenham Cubette Softball Team sent the crowd home happy with a 4-3 come from behind win over the Huntsville Lady Hornets.
Huntsville got the game started with a pair of runs off Della Jasinski in the top of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead.
Brenham got one of those runs back in the bottom of the first inning as Avery Maurer singled, stole second, stole third, and then came home on an RBI ground out by Kaylyn Rodriguez to cut it to 2-1 Huntsville.
In the bottom of the third inning, Kaylyn Rodriguez drew a two out walk, and then Annie Beckendorf hit a two-run homer to put Brenham in front 3-2.
Huntsville tied it at 3-3 with a run in the top of the 5th inning.
It would stay that way until the bottom of the eighth inning, when Beckendorf led off with a triple. She would later score the game winning run on a wild pitch.
Della Jasinski went the distance striking out 17 batters over innings.
The Cubettes improve to 7-1 on the season. They are taking part in the Dripping Springs Tournament this weekend. Their Thursday games are going to be played at Lake Travis High School. They will first take on Pflugerville Hendrickson at 9am, and then face Vista Ridge at 11am.
