BUSY TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

  

Tuesday kept the Brenham Fire Department busy, as it responded to several calls throughout the day.

One incident involved what the department reported as an eight-wheeler crashing into the bridge on the Highway 290 – Highway 36 cloverleaf around 11:30 a.m. 

Crews were on site for over an hour to clear the scene and clean up diesel leaking from the truck.  City officials reported no injuries. 

Firefighters also responded to vehicle collisions around 9:45 a.m. at West Stone Street and South Day Street and just before 11:45 a.m. in the intersection of West Main Street by the railroad tracks.

Other calls included fire alarms shortly before 6:45 a.m. at a home on Westbrooke Cove and around 5:45 p.m. at the Cortin Village Apartments on Cantey Street.  One alarm was replaced, while the other was in the process of being reset.

There was also a call of a gas leak at roughly 8:15 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, after a construction company hit a gas line.  Units stood by until the line was clamped off.
