BRENHAM ISD PARTICIPATING IN NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST/LUNCH PROGRAM
Brenham ISD released their policy guidelines yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon for children to receive free or reduced-price meals.
Letters are being distributed to the households of the children in the district about eligibility benefits and what actions need to be taken in order to apply for those benefits.
Applications are available on-line at www.schoolcafe.com, or they have paper applications that are available at all campuses, as well as the Child Nutrition Office at 1301 Niebuhr Street.
Applications may be submitted anytime during the school year. Information that households provide will be used for the purpose of determining eligibility. Applications may also be verified by school officials at any time during the year.
For households that qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on income, an adult in the household must fill out a free and reduced-price meal application. They can then be return it to Deann Ramsey at the Child Nutrition Office, or your child’s school.
Brenham ISD said that they are working with local agencies to identify all children who are categorically and program eligible, and then notify those households that they do not need to complete an application.
The Application Processor will review applications and determine eligibility. If a household or guardian is not satisfied with the ruling, they can make a verbal or written appeal to the Superintendent of Schools for a hearing.
For a complete look at Brenham ISD’s policy on free and reduced-price meals, each school campus, as well as the Central Office at 711 East Mansfield Street has copies available for review to anyone upon request.
