Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Zorn (Mary Zorn)

A Brenham High School graduate recently received a major promotion from the U.S. military.

Major Aaron J. Zorn was recently promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserves.

The ceremony was held on August 5 at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth.

Zorn, who is 2001 graduate of Brenham High School, served four deployments overseas during 11 years on active duty with the United States Air Force before moving to the Reserves.

He commissioned as a Second Lieutenant from the Corps of Cadets as a member of the Texas A&M class of 2005, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Zorn also holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

In her remarks at the ceremony, the promoting officer, Lieutenant Colonel Jennifer Almonte commented on the accomplishments Zorn made as Director of Operations for the 301st Civil Engineer Squadron. 

The most notable accomplishment was a 28% improvement in training scores.  For the work, Lieutenant Colonel Zorn received his fourth Meritorious Service Medal.

He is now being moved to the 822nd Civil Engineer Flight to serve on the Staff Team.

Zorn, his wife Elizabeth, and his two children Audrey and Callahan live in Austin, where he is employed by Brookfield Properties.  He is the son of Mary Jane and the late James Zorn of Burton.
