FOUR CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. OVER WEEKEND

  

Several vehicle-related calls were among the four received over the weekend by the Brenham Fire Department.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, the department was called out to a gas leak outside a residence in the 1500 block of Reimer Street.  Units arrived and found a strong smell outside.  After investigation, it was found that gas was leaking from the meter.  The City of Brenham Gas Department made location and shut the gas off until repairs could be made.

Around 11:45 a.m. Sunday, units from the Brenham Fire Department and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department went out to the 3800 block of FM 390 East for a rescue call.  They were advised that a dog was stuck inside the engine compartment of a vehicle.  Brenham firefighters were cancelled on their way to the call due to a Prairie Hill firefighter making it to the scene and getting the dog removed safely.

Just past 5:30 p.m., BFD members were dispatched to a crash without entrapment in the 2500 block of South Day Street.  They arrived at the scene to find a two-vehicle accident with no injuries and assisted with traffic control until wreckers made location.  Once the vehicles were off the roadway, the department cleared the scene.

Minutes later, the department was called out along with the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department for a crash with entrapment in the 7600 block of Highway 290 East.  They arrived and removed a person who was trapped inside a truck.  It is unknown if the person suffered injuries.  Brenham units were then released from the scene and returned to service.
