CITY OF BRENHAM HOLDING PUBLIC HEARING THURSDAY ON IMPACT FEES
The Brenham City Council will hold a public hearing tomorrow (Thursday) for residents to learn more about impact fees.
The hearing will take place at the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Representatives from Strand Associates will present information on impact fees, which are charges or assessments levied by cities on developers in order to help the city recover costs of capital improvements or facility expansions associated with new development.
The city says adopting impact fees will lessen the burden of increasing utility rates and taxes on existing residents and employers that are currently paying for infrastructure improvements.
Following the public hearing, the council will act on a resolution to approve the land use assumptions and water, wastewater and roadway capital improvement plans under which an impact fee may be imposed on developers. It will also look to set a second public hearing regarding the implementation of impact fees. The hearing is planned for February 1, 2024.
