THREE CALLS WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls during the afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday.
Around 5:15 p.m. firefighters responded to H-E-B, 2508 South Day Street, for a crash without entrapment. Upon arrival, they found two vehicles involved, with one leaking fluid. The department secured the scene and cleaned up fluids from the crash. No injuries were reported, but traffic saw extensive backup due to the time of day.
Just past 7 p.m., units went out to a home in the 1500 block of South Jackson Street for a fire alarm. They found smoke from the chimney had set the alarm off, and no action was needed.
Shortly before 8 p.m., the department was called to the St. Paul’s Christian Day School campus at 305 West Third Street for an elevator rescue. BFD members found four people stuck between floors in the elevator. The department gained access to the elevator at the floor above it and removed the roof’s emergency hatch, so that a ladder could be placed for people to exit the stalled elevator. The department said there were no injuries.
