CUBS FALL TO A&M CONSOLIDATED 78-68

Through three quarters, the Brenham Cub Basketball Team played competitively with the current second place team in the district. However, A&M Consolidated pulled away in the second half to get a 78-68 victory to wrap up the first half of district play.

The Tigers won a see-saw first quarter by a narrow 23-21 margin. The Cubs came back, and outscored A&M Consolidated 17-12 in the second quarter to take a 38-35 lead into the locker room at half time.

The Tigers came back to win the third quarter 19-12, and take a 54-50 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Brenham struggled to find their shots in the first half of the fourth quarter, and A&M Consolidated ended up outscoring them in the period 24-18.

Issac Powell led the Cubs with 27 points. Elijah Ferguson had 16 points. JaKobe Mathis had ten points in the first half, and saw his play second half limited due to foul trouble.

The loss drops Brenham to 20-6 on the season and 3-4 in district. They will go to Bryan on Tuesday night for a rematch with Rudder to start the second half of district play. The opening tipoff is scheduled for 6:30pm.
