FOUR CALLS WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls Wednesday afternoon.

Around 2:15 p.m., the department was dispatched to the 3000 block of Highway 290 West for a transportation incident.  Units arrived on location to find a two-vehicle accident with fluids leaking.  They used dry absorbent on the spill and helped EMS with the patients before returning to service.  The extent of any injuries is unknown.

At 3:45 p.m., BFD members received a report of a structure fire at McDonald’s, 2135 Highway 290 West.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building when they arrived, but they did find a cigarette container smoking.  The department used a water can to extinguish the small fire behind the building.

At 4 p.m., firefighters were called out for another report of a structure fire at FM 109 and Wieghat Lane.  The Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department made location to find a large brush pile burning, along with part of a barn.  Brenham firefighters used tank water to extinguish the barn fire, and Salem units put out the large brush pile.

Just before 4:30 p.m., the Brenham department responded to an alarm sounding at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, but proper code was given for cancellation while the department was enroute.
