ERCOT NOT ANTICIPATING PROBLEMS WITH GRID DURING ECLIPSE
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is not expecting any grid reliability concerns during the upcoming total solar eclipse.
The eclipse is projected to pass over the ERCOT region between approximately 12:10 and 3:10 p.m. on April 8th.
ERCOT stated on social media that the impact of lower solar generation during the eclipse will be reflected in forecasts starting Monday, April 1st and will be updated hourly the day of the eclipse. No calls have been issued for reduced energy usage.
ERCOT said it has been forecasting models reflecting reduced solar power production similar to a sunset and sunrise in the middle of the day. It said it will continue to monitor conditions and keep the public informed.
