BURTON STUDENTS COMPETE AT UIL ACADEMIC MEET
Students from Burton High School competed last week in the District 26-2A UIL Academic Meet.
Speaking and writing events were held at Burton High School and all objective tests were held on the Blinn College Brenham campus.
Burton finished second overall among the schools behind only Normangee for the top spot.
In total, the Panthers entered 40 students across 22 contests. Thirty-two of these students placed in at least one event and 15 students advanced to Regionals in at least one event.
For the team events, Burton placed first in Calculator, Computer Science, and Literary Criticism. They also finished second in Accounting, Journalism, Science, Speech, and Social Studies.
Individual District Champions were Cayden Manley in Computer Science, Grayson Brown in Lincoln Douglas, Vivian Layman in Literary Criticism and Ready Writing, Katy Whitfield in Prose Interpretation, and Hunter Duffy in Social Studies.
