SIX CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to six calls on Friday.
At 9 a.m., the department was called to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm. Units found the alarm sounding but determined it was going off due to a malfunction.
Shortly before 9:45 a.m., firefighters were dispatched for a fire alarm at the Toy Box Child Development Center, 2203 South Austin Street. The alarm was going off when they arrived, but it was caused by a malfunction.
At 10 a.m., units received an alarm call at King’s Liquor, 1708 North Park Street, but were cancelled after proper code was given by the alarm company.
Around 10:30 a.m., BFD members received a report of a crash in the 5600 block of Highway 290 East, but were cancelled due to the crash being out in the county.
Shortly after 1 p.m., another crash was reported in the 200 block of Highway 290 West. Firefighters arrived to find a two-vehicle accident. They provided traffic control for the scene as the vehicles were removed from the roadway.
Just before 9:45 p.m., the department was called out for a gas odor at High Hope Care Center of Brenham, 401 East Blue Bell Road. Units arrived along with the City of Brenham Gas Department to check the area for a leak or smell. After investigation, gas crews cleared the fire department from the scene.
