TWO CALLS TUESDAY FOR CHAPPELL HILL VFD
The Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to two calls on Tuesday.
Shortly after 10:45 a.m., the department was dispatched to a hit and run accident in the area of the 7700 block of Highway 290 East. Upon arrival, units found that the incident had been moved off of the roadway and into a nearby parking lot. They discovered one vehicle had been sideswiped by another vehicle and the mirror was knocked off. Personnel stayed on location until the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrived and cleared them from the scene around 11:15 a.m.
At 10:45 p.m., firefighters were called to a crash without entrapment around the 12600 block of Highway 290 East. They found one vehicle partially in the roadway with moderate damage and barrier cables destroyed. Units checked for fluids coming from the vehicle and set up traffic control to ensure scene safety for all responders. They also used tools to help access the truck for the driver, since it was stuck. The department was back in service around 12:15 a.m.
