GRASS FIRE AMONG THREE CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Friday.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m., Brenham units were dispatched along with the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department to a report of a grass fire in the 2700 block of South Berlin Road. Brenham firefighters arrived on location to find about a quarter of an acre burning, so they used tank water to extinguish the head of the fire. Berlin firefighters then arrived to put out the hot spots and remained on scene while Brenham units returned to service.
The Brenham department had two other calls on Friday.
At 10 a.m., BFD members went out to Liberty Dialysis, 604 Medical Court, for a fire alarm sounding. They made location to find an alarm company repairing the alarm, so they returned to the station.
Just past 4:45 p.m., firefighters were called to Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, 2455 Stringer Street, for a report of a child locked inside a vehicle that was on. They arrived to find a child locked inside a running vehicle. The department unlocked the vehicle to let the child out. The child was checked out by EMS and was reported to be unharmed.
