CUBS WRAPPING UP NON-DISTRICT PLAY AGAINST GILMER

The Brenham Cub Football Team will be going on the road this (Friday) evening for a neutral site game against the Gilmer Buckeyes. The game is being played at 7pm at Huntsville ISD Stadium. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:30pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.

The Cubs are off to a 4-0 start to the season with wins over Huntsville, Sterling, Bryan, and Killeen. They have outscored their opponents 197-105.

QB Jordan Harvey (Sr.) leads the team in passing by going 38 out of 58 for 536 yards. He has thrown seven touchdowns to just three interceptions, and has a QB Rating of 113.2.

RB Jakoby Dixon (So.) is the top rusher with 79 carries for 844 yards, which comes out to 10.7 yards per carry. He also has 12 rushing touchdowns. Coming into the game, he needs 156 yards to break the 1,000 yard mark for the season.

WR Cartelle Brown (Jr.) is the top pass catcher with 11 receptions for 165 yards and three touchdowns. WR Chris Guidry (Jr.) is right behind him with nine receptions for 147 yards and three touchdowns.

On defense, LB Caleb Espinoza (Jr.) leads the Brenham defense with 38 solo tackles, 12 assists, and three sacks. LB Kristian Prosper (Jr.) is second on the team with 35 solo tackles and 4 assists.

Meanwhile, most folks remember Gilmer defeating Bellville last season for Class 4A Division II Championship. This season, they are 2-2 this season and currently ranked #3 by Dave Campbell's Texas Football.

Gilmer has played four Class 4A Division I teams so far. They lost to #6 ranked Longview Pine Tree 22-15, and #9 ranked Chapel Hill 33-29.

Since then, they've come back to beat #7 ranked Kilgore 24-22, and won a thriller over Lindale 37-36.

QB Brady McCown, who transferred from Jacksonville, leads the offense. He is 66 of 126 passing for 766 yards with four touchdowns to 2 interceptions.

Trillyon Butler is their leading rusher with 42 carries for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Brendon Webb is the leading receiver with 18 catches for 263 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Geremiah Noble is right behind him with 16 catches for 212 yards.
