THREE CALLS MONDAY, ONE EARLY TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out three times on Monday and once early this (Tuesday) morning.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, the department was dispatched to The Hill Top at Brenham, 3170 North Park Street, for a fire investigation.  Units arrived to find a small burn pile smoking and used tank water to put out the fire.

Just before 12:30 p.m., BFD members responded to Valmont Industries, 2551 Valmont Drive, for a report of a contractor that hit a gas line.  The fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department found a 4-inch gas line cut.  Firefighters stood by until the gas department was able to shut the gas line down before returning to service.

Around 6:30 p.m., units received a report of a fire alarm at Christ Lutheran Church, 1104 Carlee Drive.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and a member of the church advised that they were having trouble with the alarm, so firefighters cleared the scene.

At 3:15 a.m. today, the department went out to the 1800 block of Highway 290 West for a vehicle fire.  An 18-wheeler was found on the side of the road with no smoke or fire.  The driver told firefighters that he hit a deer, causing the brakes to lock up.  Units checked the brake area and found no smoke or fire, so they returned to the station.
