PlanNorth Architectural Company has opened nominations for the Copper Star Program, which began earlier this year and honors the unsung heroes who live and work in Washington County.

Nominees should be those who lead by example, show high levels of work ethic and integrity, and lead by action and words over time.

Nominations must include references, short answers and a quote that represents the candidate.  A non-local selection panel will review the applications.  PlanNorth employees and families are ineligible to nominate or receive the award.

The first Copper Star Award recipient was Susie Elliot

In a release announcing the opening of nominations, PlanNorth Principal Architect Katie Burch said the award is intended to “find and recognize the people who give Washington County its spirit.”  She said, “These people don’t seek recognition, but their families need to see the impact they’ve made, and that it matters.”

The 2025 Class of Copper Star honorees will receive a hand-crafted award to commemorate the occasion, created by Scott Sommerlatte Originals.  One winner will be given the opportunity to make a donation to a local charity of their choice, underwritten by PlanNorth.

Nomination forms can be obtained at https://plannorth.com/culture or by emailing Carlie Zorn at carlie@plannorth.com.  Completed forms can be dropped off in person 24/7 to the mailbox outside PlanNorth’s office in downtown Brenham, or emailed to Zorn.
