Several fire departments responded Tuesday afternoon to a grass fire at a business in Chappell Hill.

Just before 2 p.m., members of the Brenham, Chappell Hill and Salem Fire Departments were called to the Iron Eagle Trading Post, 6500 Highway 290 East, for a grass fire.

The Brenham Fire Department reported that about half an acre was on fire, and there was heavy fuel load.  The Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department said there were debris piles with old vehicles, and the fire jumped a fence into a pasture.

The Brenham Fire Department extinguished the right flank, while Chappell Hill units knocked down the left flank.  Once the fire was controlled, they began mop up.  Firefighters were on scene for over two hours.
