FLATONIA TO HOST 52ND ANNUAL CZHILISPIEL THIS WEEKEND

Downtown Flatonia is all set for the 52nd celebration of Czhilispiel.

Held the fourth weekend of October, Czhilispiel pays tribute to Flatonia’s Czech and German roots with three days of live music, vendors, a carnival, cook-offs and contests.

Activities begin tomorrow (Friday) with entertainment from The Shinglers and Southbound 955.

Saturday will offer a 5K run and walk in front of Flatonia City Hall, a pie auction hosted by the Flatonia Lions Club, and the egg toss, jalapeño eating and animal calling contests.  Music will be provided by the Dujka Brothers, the Matt Bonner Band, The Teague Brothers, Slade Coulter and Max Rios.

Sunday will feature the Czhilispiel Grand Parade, a car and truck show, a kids’ Halloween costume contest, tricycle races, a washer tournament, and contests for little wrangler hay hauling and backseat drivin’ momma.  There will also be performances by the Flatonia High School Dazzlers and cheerleaders, D’Vine Testament, The Fender Benders, the Blue Denim Band and the Black Cat Choir.

Admission is free tomorrow and Sunday, while tickets are $15 on Saturday.
