BLINN PARALEGAL & LEGAL STUDIES PROGRAM TO HOST ONLINE INFO SESSIONS

The Blinn College District Paralegal and Legal Studies Program will host three information sessions for students interested in playing an integral role in the justice system.

The online information sessions will be held via Zoom on:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 13, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 20, noon-1 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 23, 10-11 a.m.

Registration is available at www.blinn.edu/paralegal.

Blinn’s Paralegal and Legal Studies Program prepares students for a wide range of legal careers, and graduates have gone on to pursue successful careers as paralegals, legal assistants, and legal support staff in a variety of settings, including law firms, corporate legal departments, and government agencies. Many also have pursued law school or pursued degrees in related fields.

With traditional classroom and online tracks available, Blinn students can earn their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or a Legal Office Certificate. Courses are taught by faculty comprised entirely of lawyers and judges whose classes are structured to promote quality student-faculty interaction. Students completing the AAS degree are eligible to sit for the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) certification exam.

Students also have the opportunity to engage with legal professionals through the program. On Wednesday, Nov. 6, the Texas 10th Court of Appeals held session at RELLIS, allowing Blinn students to witness precedent-setting courses as they are argued before the court.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, legal assistants earn a median salary of $60,970 per year.
