HEMPSTEAD MAN GETS PRISON TERM IN BRAZOS COUNTY

A Hempstead man will be going to prison for a long time after being found guilty for a shooting incident that occurred four years ago.

26-year-old Arnoldo Romero was found guilty of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and sentenced to 45 years in prison.  He also received an additional sentence of 20 years in prison for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Romero was charged with in connection with an incident that occurred in May of 2020.

Authorities say that Romero instigated a fight with an employee of Bryan’s House of Tires. The fight escalated when Romero pulled out a gun, shot the employee, and fled the scene.

At the time of the shooting, Romero was on parole for four counts of Aggravated Robbery. 

During the punishment phase, the District Attorney’s Office presented evidence that Romero had previously been sentenced to five years in prison for Aggravated Robbery. He also faces numerous other pending charges.

The jury also heard evidence that he was a documented member of the Latin King criminal Street Gang.
