GAS PRICES DOWN SLIGHTLY FOR THANKSGIVING

As drivers in Texas make their Thanksgiving travel plans, they can expect to see some lower prices at the gas pump.

Per the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.65.  That price is a penny lower than last week, 7 cents less than the typical price last month, and 8 cents cheaper than the average cost last year.

In Brenham, the average price of gas falls at $2.54, with a low of $2.33 and a high of $3.10.

Across the state’s metropolitan areas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most per gallon on average at $2.88, while drivers in Lubbock are spending the least at $2.40.

Nationwide, the average price per gallon is $3.05, which is down 2 cents from a week ago, down 10 cents from last month, and down 21 cents from this time last year.

AAA Texas expects 5.7 million Texans will travel 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, which is up 1.3 percent from last year’s record number of travelers.  The travel forecast spans from the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to the Monday after.
