BRENHAM VS. RANDLE: REGION SEMIFINAL PREVIEW

The Brenham Cub Football Team will be looking at a former district foe when they take the field on Saturday for the Region Semifinals. The Cubs are going to face the Richmond Randle Lions. In the two years that they were in the same district, the teams were 1-1 with each winning on their own home turf.

Brenham comes into the game with a record of 11-1. They went undefeated in District 10-5A Division II to win the championship. The Cubs would then defeat Texas City 38-0 in Bi-District, and last week defeated Liberty Hill 30-27.

QB Jordan Harvey (Sr.) has completed 102 out of 165 passes (62%) for 1,778 yards. He also has 22 touchdown passes to just five interceptions, and a QB Rating of 125.5.

RB Jakoby Dixon (So.) is having an incredible season. He has got 249 carries for 2,248 yards, and 32 rushing touchdowns. Currently, Dixon is battling a strained MCL that limited his play last week. Whether he plays or not, this week, will be a game time decision.

If Dixon is unable to go, RB Xyran Upshaw (Jr.) will get the bulk of the carries. Upshaw has been "Mr. Everything" for the Cubs this season with time at QB, RB, and WR. On the ground this season, he has 109 carries for 596 yards and eight touchdowns.

Brenham is led at WR by Chris Guidry (Jr.) and Cartelle Brown (Jr.). Guidry has 31 receptions for 668 yards and 10 touchdowns. Brown has 28 receptions for 564 yards and nine touchdowns.

On the defensive side, MLB Caleb Espinoza (Jr.) continues to be in on just about every play with 144 tackles and four sacks.

LB Kristian Prosper is second on the team with 93 tackles.

DE Mason Seeber leads the team with six sacks, while Jabreon Moore leads the team with three interceptions.

The Richmond Randle Lions have come along way in a short amount of time. The school is named for former Lamar Consolidated ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Randle, who is a native of Brenham. His son, Brian, is the team's head coach. Richmond Randle first opened in 2021.

The Lions Football Team is 12-0 on the season. They went a perfect 7-0 to win the District 9-5A Division II Championship. Randle is coming off a 63-7 Bi-District win over Belton, and a 79-0 Area Round win over Elgin.

In their last six games, Randle has four shutouts, and two games where they have only allowed one touchdown.

On offense, they are lead by Tyler Skrabanek (Jr.), who has completed 108 of 168 passes (64%) for 1,622 yards. He also has 20 touchdown passes to just four interceptions, and a QB Rating of 125.5.

The leading rusher is RB Landen Williams-Callis (So.), who has 140 carries for 1,715 yards and 40 touchdowns. They also have Sincere Thompson (Sr.), who has 63 carries for 882 yards, and 13 touchdowns.

The receivers are led by Dacorian Rubin (Jr.) with 27 catches for 487 yards, and six touchdowns. Sean Smith (Sr.) has 34 catches for 442 yards, and four touchdowns.

The winner moves on to the Regional Championship against Iowa Colony, who defeated Fort Bend Marshall 31-21 this (Friday) morning at NRG Stadium in Houston.
