FOUR CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Friday.

Around 2:30 p.m., Brenham firefighters along with members of the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a grass fire in the 2300 block of FM 50.  Brenham units arrived to find a small grass fire in a fence line.  The Brenham department cancelled Meyersville units, as the fire was contained and extinguished.

At 2:45 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department went out to a home in the 2200 block of FM 50 for an alarm sounding.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and they ultimately found a bad smoke detector and removed the batteries.  The homeowner said she would contact an alarm company to come out and fix the alarm.

At 6:15 p.m., BFD personnel received a report of a gas leak at a home in the 1900 block of Northview Circle Drive.  Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department found a small leak around the meter.  After the gas leak was repaired, the fire department returned to service.

Shortly after 8 p.m., units were called out to the 200 block of East Academy Street for a transportation incident.  They made location to discover a two-vehicle accident with minor damage.  No fluids were leaking and the vehicles were in a parking lot, so the department cleared the scene.
