LEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred earlier this (Thursday) afternoon.
According to Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call around 12:15pm reporting a shooting in the 2100 block of County Road 217 in South Lee County.
A short time later, the Dispatch Center received another 9-1-1 call reporting that a gunshot victim was being transported away from the scene in a vehicle.
Sheriff Durrenberger and his deputies arrived at the scene and one male suspect was placed under arrest without incident.
One male victim was driven to the Lee County Law Enforcement Center, where he was treated by EMS, and then transported by helicopter for further treatment.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is conducting a further investigation into the shooting with the assistance of the Texas Rangers.
The Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that they want to assure local residents that there is no danger to the public.
They also stated that because this is an active and on-going criminal investigation, the names of the suspect and victim are not being released at this time.
